Est ce parce qu&rsquo;elle fait des miracles? En France, je ne saurais le dire. Mais au Texas, j&rsquo;en suis sure, la \u00ab\u00a0Lady Bird\u00a0\u00bb locale a \u00e9t\u00e9 vraiment prodigieuse. Au printemps, quand vous vous promenez sur les routes de campagne, vous ne pouvez pas en douter. Partout, les couleurs explosent en tapis bleus de lupins, rouges de pinceaux indiens. Des ruisseaux de fleurs bordent les chemins, les champs s&rsquo;enflamment de jaune et d&rsquo;orang\u00e9 \u00e0 perte de vue. Comme par baguette magique, le plat Texas rev\u00eat ses habits de lumi\u00e8re. Et c&rsquo;est magnifique. \u00c7a s&rsquo;appelle la \u00ab\u00a0Beautification\u00a0\u00bb. Car cette floraison extraordinaire on la doit \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0Coccinelle\u00a0\u00bb; oui, c&rsquo;est elle qui a initi\u00e9 le projet. \u00ab\u00a0Lady Bird\u00a0\u00bb, c&rsquo;est le surnom de Mrs Claudia Alta Taylor, l&rsquo;\u00e9pouse du pr\u00e9sident Lyndon B. Johnson. En 1964, alors que l&rsquo;\u00e9cologie \u00e9tait encore bien loin d&rsquo;\u00eatre au go\u00fbt du jour, elle s&rsquo;est trouv\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0sa\u00a0\u00bb mission de premi\u00e8re dame des \u00c9tats Unis: attirer l&rsquo;attention sur les beaut\u00e9s naturelles de son pays. Elle a d&rsquo;abord fait ses armes durant le mandat de son mari \u00e0 Washington, puis, en quittant la Maison Blanche, elle a naturellement focalis\u00e9 son \u00e9nergie sur son Texas natal. Durant 20 ans, \u00e0 partir de 1969, elle a personnellement encourag\u00e9 le semis de graines des plantes locales tout au long des routes. Au moment o\u00f9 disparaissaient nos bleuets et coquelicots typiques des campagnes fran\u00e7aises, l&rsquo;avis\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Coccinelle\u00a0\u00bb, \u00e9cologiste convaincue, pensait au bien \u00eatre des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures Comme cadeau d&rsquo;anniversaire, pour ses 70 ans, elle leur a m\u00eame offert le Centre national de recherche sur les fleurs sauvages \u00e0 Austin, un fleuron du d\u00e9veloppement durable. Plus de 50 ans plus tard, \u00e0 chaque printemps, la beaut\u00e9 \u00e9cl\u00f4t et le bonheur se renouvelle.
